Jay has

obtaining top level results (equivalent to NVQ 3)
and has worked as a Special Needs
Assistant,
a Young Person's
Consultation/Participation Officer,
and is currently
works as as a Personal Adviser
and User Involvement Officer for Young People.
She has a
diploma in advanced counselling skills
which includes working with families and
young people.

Jay grew up in the Drakensberg mountain region of
Natal,
South Africa, apart from short spells in England and
Ireland.
She worked & studied in Cape Town,
then travelled for several years on a yacht which her
family built in their back yard.
Her book, Following Father (Ure Group Press,
still available - £3.95 plus 45p p&p),
draws on these experiences.

She published & edited the poetry & art
magazine
"Rustic Rub" for many years,
& before that published & edited a green
issues mag
called "And What Of Tomorrow?"
Her work has been widely published in magazines
in the UK and abroad, including: America, Australia,
Austria, Belgium, Britain, Finland, Ireland, Italy,
Japan, and South Africa. Some has been published in
translation
(Afrikaans, German, Japanese).
Jay has worked as a Poet in Schools, Libraries,
Art Centres, Theatres, Festivals, pubs, prisons,
restaurants, coffee shops, and on Radio and TV.

She has also worked with
children in outdoor environments.
In spring 1996 she performed in America,
and returned there again in 1998 and again in
2004.
She also choreographed & performed in a group piece
there and improvised with musicians.
Jay founded and
organized the Yorkshire Rainbow
Festival in September 1996.
Jay tutored adult
writers in Leeds in 1997,
and worked with special needs children
(1997-Yorks) & (1998-Hants).
She then went on to
work as a Young Person's Consultation/Participation
Officer in Hants,
then as a
User Involvement Officer
and Personal Advisor
to Young People leaving care in Surrey.
In 2002 she founded the non-profit
organization
Winchester Wonders to promote creativity in the area.
She also does storytelling, talks, articles, reviews,
interviews,
typesetting & design, website design,
sings, illustrates, paints, and is a healer, and life coach.
Jay also has long
standing experience of working
as a therapist with people of all ages
from the elderly to the very young,
and with animals.
She is
writing personal development courses
for adults and young people,
and runs a variety
of workshops for all
which are often tailor-made to suit defined needs.
Jay is also
a qualified Life Coach..
